You'll see it cited in what some publications think as the start of a trend (Vocalist era, pop-gone-country artists, etc), but we know those because we pay attention. The most oblivious GP may not know it and it's hardly their fault. What the GP knows are songs played on the radio, not those played at the award shows they most likely don't care about.
