Why do artists break up the North American legs of their tours?

First I think it has to do with scheduling because not all venues are available, some are used for sports etc... 

secondly, I think it keeps things fresh, in demand and gives more anticipation. You know it’s gonna be a successful tour when they do their first leg in North America, go overseas do a leg there and then return to North America for another. 

Lady Gaga played 5 times in my city (Vancouver) during TMB. 3 dates the first leg then returned with 2 more the second leg and that was amazing. You know how after a concert of someone you really admire you feel kind of down cause it’s over and you wanna do it all again... well that didn’t happen during TMB cause the bitch kept giving us more and it was sickening
