You apply heat in the morning to loosen the muscles so you can move without being cramped, in the evening you ice it for pain relief. While icing an inflamed joint may cause pain relief, it also tends to stiffen the area, it's basically a no win situation. Either she's in acute pain but can move or she's not and loses some of her mobility. I think she prefers the second option because it's hard to sing when you can't concentrate because of the pain. The smartest thing would probably if Gaga re-arranged her daily schedule so that playing a show would be the first thing she does in the day, but that's almost impossible.
