Album Art // modern version of this:

Title: Obituary
Artist: Lady Gaga
Release: September 2018

As a follow up to her heartfelt 'Joanne' record, which received lukewarm reviews from critics - Lady Gaga has returned to where she started; with themes of fame and fear throughout this new album. The title is a juxtaposition to the themes of 'Joanne'; a collection of songs regarding peace, love and togetherneee - by suggesting that things have taken a turn for the worst. The first track on the album, Funeral, furthers this idea. The general aestethic for the era would be darker colours, such as purple and blue - contrasted with pastel peach and mint green throughout both videos and visual shoots. The tour would have elements of The Monster Ball throughout - with a more modern adaption of the Monster ball stage (i.e. the cityscape and scaffolding set would lay far back in the stage, and could/would move forward or raise upward on the stage to raise its importance in that scene of the show). In addition, the era would be very visual-heavy, with a music video for every song (over the course of August 2018 - March 2019). To promote the record, Gaga would perform at some popular festivals - such as Rock in Rio (to compensate for this year's cancellation) as well as potentially Glastonbury or British Summer Time. The concerts themselves would feature songs that are scarcely performed folllwing their respective era (e.g. Heavy Metal Lover, So Happy I Could Die, Money Honey) - and also include rock-inspired, authentic metal themes to coincide with the general consensus of the era thematic.

Track listing:
1. Funeral (prod. by Paul Blair)
2. Skit: Organised Chaos (prod. by Imogen Heap)
3. Last Dance (prod. by William Adams and Paul Blair)
4. Stay (prod. by William Orbit)
5. Too Good (prod. by William Orbit)
6. Why Don't You Smile? (prod. by Mark Ronson)
7. Fun (prod. by Imogen Heap)
8. Ma Cherie... (prod. by Mark Ronson)
9. In the Night (prod. by Paul Blair)
10. Skit: Paradiso (prod. by Paul Blair)
11. I Don't Believe You (prod. by Lady Gaga)
12. Cherry (prod. by Cirkut and Paul Blair)
13. Don't Hurt Me (prod. by Mark Ronson)
14. It Is What It Is (prod. by Imogen Heap)
15. Skit: The Mockingbird (prod. by Lady Gaga)

The use of skits throughout the album is not to maintain a storyline or concept, but to show gaps in time between where the songs were written - suggesting that the emotions of the preceding track are polar opposite to that of the track succeeding the Skit. The skit tracks last only two minutes or so, and contain only one verse per skit, so as to slow down the pace. None of the songs on the album are 'ballads' in the real term - but the majority are fairly midtempo, such as 'Funeral', driven by heavy percussion and keyboard. 'Organised Chaos' is a nod to the theories of a 'Chaos Angel' theme before the 'Joanne' era kicked in - and contains the sound effect of a cuckoo bird clock over a soft, delicate piano and xylophone instrumentation. 'Last Dance' is a powerful, hard-hitting track with 'clap'-like percussion and a sample of Indila's 'Derniere Danse'. 'Stay' and 'Too Good' also feature a slight tropical theme, without straying too far from the predominant theme of death and destruction. The album continues with a more rock influence, and song 'Cherry' also features a baseline with trap elements throughout. The album is considered Gaga's most well rounded for the fact that it combines genres in a masterful way - and the era's thematic subverts the initial sounding of the song.
