The Predator film series is a science fiction action horror film franchise based on a race of fictional extraterrestrials created by Jim Thomas and John Thomas. Produced by 20th Century Fox, the series started in 1987 with the film Predator, which led to two sequels and novel, comic book and video game spin-offs. Related to the franchise is the Alien vs. Predator, which combine the titular Predator with the creatures from the Alien film series.

Predator

Predator is a 1987 American science-fiction action horror film directed by John McTiernan. It stars Arnold Schwarzenegger as the leader of an elite special forces team who are on a mission to rescue hostages from guerrilla territory in Val Verde in Central America's Northern Triangle. Kevin Peter Hall co-stars as the titular antagonist, a technologically advanced form of extraterrestrial life secretly stalking and hunting the group. Predator was written by brothers Jim and John Thomas in 1985, under the working title of Hunter. Filming began in April 1986 and creature effects were devised by Stan Winston.

The film's budget was around $15 million. 20th Century Fox released it in the United States on June 12, 1987, where it grossed $59,735,548. Initial critical reaction was mixed; criticism focused on the thin plot. In subsequent years, critics' attitudes toward the film became positive, and it has appeared on a number of "best of" lists. It spawned two sequels, Predator 2 (1990) and Predators (2010), and two crossover films with the Alien franchise, Alien vs. Predator (2004) and Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem (2007). Another film, The Predator, is scheduled for 2018.

Predator 2

Predator 2 is a 1990 American science fiction action film written by brothers Jim and John Thomas, directed by Stephen Hopkins, and starring Danny Glover, Ruben Blades, Gary Busey, María Conchita Alonso, Bill Paxton and Kevin Peter Hall. The film is a sequel to 1987's Predator, with Peter Hall reprising the title role of the Predator.

The film received negative reviews, despite gaining a moderate return at the box office grossing $57 million worldwide, and it was considered a disappointment compared to the previous film's $98 million gross on a smaller production budget. It has since become a cult film among fans. A sequel followed 20 years later in 2010.

Alien vs. Predator

Alien vs. Predator (also abbreviated as AVP) is a 2004 science fiction action horror film written and directed by Paul W. S. Anderson, and starring Sanaa Lathan, Lance Henriksen, Raoul Bova, Ewen Bremner, and Colin Salmon. Tom Woodruff, Jr. plays an alien named "Grid". Ian Whyte plays the Predators named "Scar", "Celtic" and "Chopper". It is the first installment of the Alien vs. Predator franchise, adapting a crossover bringing together the eponymous creatures of the Alien and Predator series, a concept which originated in a 1989 comic book. Set in 2004, the film follows a group of archaeologists assembled by billionaire Charles Bishop Weyland for an expedition near the Antarctic to investigate a mysterious heat signal. Weyland hopes to claim the find for himself, and his group discovers a pyramid below the surface of a whaling station. Hieroglyphs and sculptures reveal that the pyramid is a hunting ground for young Predators who kill Aliens as a rite of passage. The humans are caught in the middle of a battle between the two species and attempt to prevent the Aliens from reaching the surface.

Anderson, Dan O'Bannon and Ronald Shusett wrote the story; Anderson and Shane Salerno adapted the story into a screenplay. Their writing was influenced by Aztec mythology, the comic book series, and the writings of Erich von Däniken. The film was released on August 13, 2004 in North America, and received negative reviews from critics. The film grossed over $172 million at the worldwide box office. A sequel, Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem, was released in December 25, 2007.

Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem

Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem (also abbreviated as AVP: R) is a 2007 American science fiction action horror film directed by the Brothers Strause (Colin and Greg) in their directorial debut, written by Shane Salerno, and starring Steven Pasquale, Reiko Aylesworth, John Ortiz, Johnny Lewis, and Ariel Gade. Tom Woodruff, Jr. plays the Predalien; a breed between Aliens and Predators. Ian Whyte and Bobby "Slim" Jones play the Predators named "Wolf" and "Bull" respectively. It is the second installment (and possibly last installment) of the Alien vs. Predator film franchise, continuing the crossover of the Alien and Predator franchises.

Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem was released on December 25, 2007, and received largely negative reviews from film critics. The film grossed $9.5 million on its opening day and took in a worldwide gross of $128.9 million in theaters. According to Home Media Magazine, the film debuted at #1 in sales and rentals on Blu-ray and #2 on DVD when it was released on home video on April 15, 2008. Since then it has made $27.4 million in DVD sales. The film was nominated for an MTV Movie Award for Best Fight Sequence.

Predators

Predators is a 2010 American science-fiction action film directed by Nimród Antal and starring Adrien Brody, Topher Grace, Alice Braga, Walton Goggins, Laurence Fishburne, Danny Trejo, Mahershala Ali, Oleg Taktarov and Louis Ozawa Changchien. It was distributed by 20th Century Fox. It is the third installment of the Predator franchise, following Predator (1987) and Predator 2 (1990). A prequel, The Predator, is set for 2018.

The film follows an ensemble cast of characters including Royce (Adrien Brody), a mercenary who appears in an unidentified jungle among other murderers and otherwise undesirable people. They find that they have been abducted and placed on a planet which acts as a game reserve for two warring tribes of extraterrestrial killers, and actively look for a way to return to Earth.

Producer Robert Rodriguez had developed a script as early as 1994, although it was not until 2009 that 20th Century Fox greenlit the project. According to Rodriguez, the title Predators is an allusion to the second film in the Alien franchise, Aliens (1986). The title also has a double meaning, referring both to the extraterrestrial Predator creatures and to the group of human characters who are pitted against them. Principal photography for Predators began on September 28, 2009 and concluded after 53 days; filming took place in Hawaii and then in Austin, Texas.

Predators was released in the United States on July 9, 2010, and Metacritic gave it a score of 51% from selected mainstream critics.[7] The film grossed over $24 million on its opening weekend and has since grossed over $52 million in the United States, with an estimated total of $127 million worldwide.

The Predator

The Predator is an upcoming American science-fiction action horror film directed by Shane Black and co-written by Black and Fred Dekker. It is the fourth installment in the Predator franchise, following Predator (1987), Predator 2 (1990) and Predators (2010), set to take place between Predator 2 and Predators. The film stars Boyd Holbrook, Olivia Munn, Trevante Rhodes, Keegan-Michael Key, Sterling K. Brown, Jacob Tremblay, Yvonne Strahovski, Alfie Allen, and Thomas Jane. The film is set to be released on August 3, 2018, by 20th Century Fox in IMAX as well as standard formats.

I don't really like the prequel idea.. kinda hate 2010+ prequels because they look much more advanced than the original movies so when you watch it by the timeline order it's like cool CGI and then 80s customs and effects..

Je ne parle pas français but I can padam if you like

Also did you catch the reference of Weyland corp being a client of Wolfram & Hart and a predator being in one of the comics?
