Joanne is kinda like pop music influenced by country/folk/rock music. Rainbow is kinda like country/folk/rock music influenced by pop music. Idk if that makes sense, but that's how I feel about them. Anyway, Rainbow is generally about love, forgiveness and empowerment. Joanne is about herself, her dad, her sister, her aunt, her loneliness, her boys, her friends, a victim of racism, women empowerment (without the need of saying curse words), and world peace. Rainbow is great, but Joanne is an accumulation of Gaga's personal sentiments, a wide variety of topics with great melodies and not repeating any sound. Besides, only Praying was on par with songs like Diamond Heart, Million Reasons and Angel Down. In 2017, which is an era where pop girls are not nearly as big as they once were, it's nice to see someone besides Gaga really making an effort and bringing it. She could have just done something along the lines of what Katy did and given us something half-hearted and weak. Instead, she surprised me and really gave us something great. I still wouldn't trade Joanne for Rainbow though. Something about Joanne literally warms me up on the inside. I haven't had such an emotional attachment to an album in a very long time.
