The demand for the 43 piece collection was described by the fashion retailer as "unprecedented" with the most popular pieces – the black and white "city" t shirts and the blue denim jacket - selling out within half an hour of hitting the site. Including everything from swimwear to phone cases, the collaboration was both ironic and sassy; rekindling customers’ nostalgia for the toy but in a 21st century context. Missguided is said to have designed the clothes with the "feminist spirit of 2017" and hoped to "capture the energy of diverse, inspiring and cool young women". The Barbie denim jacket sold out in less than 30 minutes (Missguided) With a more empowering message than the original doll conveyed, the collection even includes five miniature matching outfits for dressing up the toy. 5 of the outfits are available in doll sized versions (Missguided) As the pieces - featuring a hefty dose of millenial pink - landed, several fans took to Twitter to express either excitement at having snapped something up or disappointment at missing out. Those that failed to secure a piece, fear not: you may yet get to live your fantastic plastic adventure as, due to demand, Missguided plans to re-stock the collection within the next 4 weeks.
