Yeah her next single is Liquorice :)

Radio 1 just seem to really like her, which is great news!

I like 'A Million Lights' (the song), but I literally can't remember any of the other songs from the album, so I can't really comment on her next single release. It all just blended into one for me. There was nothing original, creative, or thought provoking about the album whatsoever.

Makes me wonder how much worse Tulisa's upcoming album will be.

I've been betting against Cheryl ever since I saw how much dislike this high-profile performance got.

Underestimated the single - that's more about the catchiness of the song and Calvin Harris has fans too.

But with albums, it more about perception of the artist.

Apparently Cheryl sales estimates are 40-50k, down from 105k for Messy.

I thought the same. Her second album did really bad. After her #1 single, the album also debuted at #1 and then everything went wrong after that. After initial sales, it started dropping far worse than her debut did. Its apparently only sold around 300,000 copies to date and unlike her debut, she didn't have as much chart support from the rest of Europe, just Britain and Ireland. Then her second single was an unbelievable flop so much so that no other singles were released. And of course, she was fired from X Factor and wasn't on tv or releasing music for a year and a half. With that in mind, I thought her time as a solo artist and solo celebrity was up because the UK public is notoriously fickle and only give #1's to people who are really relevant and as Cheryl's stock had fallen majorly and being fired from X Factor USA made her a laughing stock, I assumed she was no longer considered cool enough by the young and lets face it, almost all her fans are young girls in their teens and early twenties who can't stay loyal to a bland lipsyncher. But suddenly, her new song debuts and boom! we all love Cheryl again. Makes me wonder if the public felt sorry for her after the XF US fiasco and decided to stick it to Simon Cowell and prove that she could be popular without the show.

It just goes to show that even after examining chart trends, I sometimes have no idea about what will be a hit.

Final numbers - down from estimates:

Bieber - 38,115

Cheryl 34,934

Sales down 16% from same week in 2011, when Gaga had to sell over 40k to retake #1 over Adele.

Jeez, that's poor. I may have been wrong about CMN getting to #1 but I was certainly right about dwindling public interest in Cheryl. This figures are getting really depressing:

3 Words - 125,000+ copies in the first week

Messy Little Raindrops - 105,000+ copies in the first week (a loss of 20,000+)

A Million Lights - 34,000+ copies in the first week (a loss of 70,000+)

Woeful. It's pretty shameful when Justin Beiber's releases are garnering better sales every time considering he's a teen pop star who's got very fickle fans and Cheryl, a member of one of the UK's longest running, most successful girl bands, is getting worse sales with every release. will.i.am, are you sure you want to launch this girl in America? A woman who's nearly 30 with no talent or charisma and has a thick, regional accent? Let's face it, the only reason you boost her up is because you have the biggest crush on her. This is why for me, his credibility was very limited on The Voice.
