moonpig8400 110 Posted May 19, 2017 Share Posted May 19, 2017 Adele is much more universal: nice catchy songs, about heartbreak, not particularly challenging, not political etc etc. Gaga is experimental/artistic/strange and given this it's sublime that she did make it as big as she did (and I'm so grateful she did) It's easy for less risk taking artists to be able to have success (Adele Taylor Swift Katy Perry etc) BUT when all the conditions are right a different artist like Gaga gives the public the SPICE that all the other stars lack which propels them above all the others !!!! That's why Gaga was so impactful and shocking -- pop commercialism catchy songs AND different/interesting/artistic She could be as big as she was or as big as Adele is right now,  but if she wants to do that is a different story ! I think a REALLY great catchy song, great music video, talented and amazing live performances and some controversial intrigue would put her back where she was (i.e back in the day p-p-p-poker face/ omg i heard she was born both sexes/wow did you see playing piano/she was amazing live/she's so weird = MEGASTAR ) Perfect Illusion I really liked but sonically it's quite unpalatable to "commercial" taste -- it's dissonant, jarring, aggressive -- not harmonious like the current music. The Cure is more in line with the tropical pop style of today but that's more of an alternative pop/chillaxed vibe not necessarily number 1 .
