Seeka 12,372
People want Lorde to be the new pop act, however, I believe she's more akin to Florence. She has a cult following, is really talented, and just goes about doing her own thing. I honestly don't imagine her being as big as she was. She's not a one hit wonder, but, like I said, she'll be more comparable to Florence than any normal/regular pop act.

Hauser 1,262
Personally I love the song but the chorus is horrible so I think that hurts it replay value a lot and the fact that it isnt very catchy playes into that as well.

Mister Gaga 21,883
I think it has to do with the song, but not because it's bad. It's a PI situation imo. It's too complex, and it needs to be played a bunch of times until it clicks (just like PI, but less annoying). Her vocals can be very weird for the GP...it's not for radio, imo. And it has already damaged the era, just like PI.
troybrooks 105
OT. The song is awful. The production is ok, but the structure is a mess and her annoying 'indie-girl' vocals are not cute. Also, she's Lorde, it's not like she's established.

PaperIz 7,261
Her old music was boring so that's what her fans expected. I think it's an amazing song.

blackpink 13,760
I've been trying to get into it because I really like Lorde but I just think it's ok. I like the elements of it but for me they don't really mesh well together. I hope it grows on me though
Miel 15,009
I really like the song, but it sounds weird relative to what's "in" on the radio right now. 3 points in and ready for more

I generally hate the "indie girl voice" phenomena, but I think Lorde's voice is unique to her. Weird, and has elements of "indie girl voice", but definitely unique to her (and I like it). I mean, at least she doesn't fit the "indie girl voice" component of essentially being thrown into a pre-produced track, and becoming lost amongst a sea of other similar, breathy voices. 3 points in and ready for more
