Despite boycotts, the album sold more than two million copies. It was first released on the music platform Tidal, of which Beyoncé is co-owner, helping to attract more than a million new users in a week. The “Formation” tour promoted her other ventures: Before one performance, I watched two extended ads for her sportswear line play on the giant screens. I mean you could also look at it that way: #1 Cashcow of Sony music doesn't get a budget from her label to shoot music videos and has to pay for everything herself, despite being one of the most successful female musicians of all time on her career high.
