Gaga is not mainstream enough for her music ever to be consistently at the very top like other artists. Katy has played it safer, and it has worked out for her. One dry spell doesn't mean she's immediately over. I used to think everyone would fall in love with Gaga's music if they just gave it a chance, but as she continues to diversify, I'm starting to understand that it takes a certain type of music lover to stand by everything she does. We either have more investment or more patience than other fanbases (which is a good thing ) Gaga is absolutely more iconic/legendary, though, and her legacy will stand much longer, I think.
