DiscoHeaven23 35,007
I was thinking about how Drake and Rihanna have had many songs together this decade and it reminded me of Ashanti and Ja Rule in the early 2000's. Drake and Rihanna seem to be utilizing both of their successes to create hit songs that they know people will like. This is much like Ja Rule and Ashanti (and it actually also involved Fat Joe and J.Lo as well). These were the four biggest acts at the time, during the time when Britney Spears was being shunned by radio and before Beyonce went solo and they were all featuring on each other's songs. Poor Ashanti, always setting trends and then being copied. Ashanti and Ja Rule's songs together are: Always on Time (peak: #1) Down 4 U (peak: #6) Mesmerize (peak #2) Wonderful (peak: #5) Rihanna and Drake's songs together are: What's My Name (peak #1) Take Care (peak: #7) Work (peak #1) Too Good (peak: #33 still climbing)
HausOfNicole 177
I mean this is actually common Music Industry practice. Ja Rule and Ashanti are hardly the first male/female duo and Drake and Rhianna won't be the last. Interesting comparison though.
