Here's the other half of Rihanna's week to week singles performances on the Billboard Hot 100. These are for the singles from albums released in the 00's. To see the singles performances of her 10's singles, click this link: http://gagadaily.com/forums/topic/173567-rihannas-10s-singles-performances/

-Music of the Sun and A Girl Like Me really were just one album, or more appropriate, Music of the Sun was the EP and A Girl Like Me was the debut album. Rihanna released two singles from Music of the Sun and just as the second one was finishing its run on the chart, the lead single from A Girl Like Me entered the chart. I wonder why Rihanna's label didn't release more singles from Music of the Sun and decided to make a whole new album?

-"SOS' is so well produced and such a dance hit. Certainly deserved to be her first #1.

-Umbrella. #ICONIC

-"Shut Up and Drive" was the promo song of the 9th season of America's Next Top Model and I always think of that when I hear "Shut Up and Drive". But 'Shut Up and Drive" was not a good follow-up to "Umbrella". But other than that the Good Girl Gone Bad  era was POWERFUL.

-WHAT happened with "Russian Roulette"?? I love that song and it just totally flopped. Unfortunately this was her first single since the Chris Brown incident, but i'd hate to know that that affected her career. Her label also released "Hard" as a single 4 weeks later so maybe that suffocated "Russian Roulette".

-Honestly, the whole Rated R era was not a well performing era, aside from "Rude Boy". But even "Rude Boy" can't compare to the top hits from each of Rihanna's albums. I loved the whole dark vibe to Rated R, it mirrored The Fame Monster in the respect (i say mirrored because they were both released at the same time and therefore, neither was coping the other). Rihanna's look in the Rater R era is my favorite Rihanna look.

-It's kinda weird how much the singles performances of the Rated R era are like the singles performances of Beyonce's B'Day era. You can see those here: http://gagadaily.com/forums/topic/173320-beyonces-singles-performances/?page=1

Some insider info on "SOS" during that time digital single sales were beginning to really take off and effect how a song got to number one on the Hot 100. Record companies used have a trick. They would remove a single that was doing well on the radio from iTunes and only make availed as an album purchase. Then when the song was peaking in radio they would make it available again as a purchasable single. And the next week you had an instant #1 Hot100. "SOS" was Rihanna's first Hot100 number 1 and her first digital number one single in the same week. That's how singles blasted from #30 to #1 in that time period. Now there is too many factors that contribute to a number one, sales radio, streaming, YouTube.

Now there is too many factors that contribute to a number one, sales radio, streaming, YouTube.

woah. I noticed those quick shifts. That's crazy that they would manipulate the chart like that. But then again, we have artists like Nicki Minaj making shocking videos to get those big streaming numbers these days, so it doesn't surprise me.

Russian Roulette and Rockstar are probably two of the best songs she has ever done and radio pretty much dismissed them here in the US. They deserve much higher places on the chart.

It was fairly common with all artists during that time. But you still need good sales to get it. It's still all manipulation now. They time YouTube video releases with peaks in radio and tv performances remixes, but it's still all a manipulation to get the public buying at different times. Right now Selena just released a remix that just was able to get her a number 1 radio song and it's selling well on iTunes too so it might get her to move to a up again on the Hot100 just when it was starting to move down.

Sometimes, these would result in #1 debuts

songs could debut as high as T5 with this technique back then

Katy seems to have found her trick
