Voltaic 25 Posted February 9, 2015 Share Posted February 9, 2015 Beyonce didn't win because 'Beyonce' is an average album with a few cute bops and that's all, nothing extraordinary about it lyricly, nor instrumentally. She just got nominated because of the buzz it has of the way it was released and the music videos for every song. But the songs themselves are nothing special. The Grammys are voted upon by old white men, so I understand the frustration. Bey and Kanye have each won 20 Grammys but they've never won in the general fields. Funny, blacks spent so much time picking on a certain young white female rapper, who had NO CHANCE of winning, and ignoring the real threats. Eminem won best rap album and some indie rock guy won AOTY. The whole "real music deserves to win against what's popular" line used against Iggy undermines Beyonce too. If some obscure rapper with no hits deserves to beat Iggy, maybe Beck deserves to beat Beyonce. Guitar music does not dominate. It's struggling. If so, where have all the bands been on the Grammys? Lenny Kravitz's passion is classic rock. He fell into it because of where he moved. I am on a rock forum and i have seen mention by some black members who love rock and follow it and remarked they resent being stereotyped into only one genre of music hip-hop, or R&B, kind of like you are doing right now.
