Yeah wait this seems old :laughga:

Justin Beiber is #2? This seems like it might have been from a few years ago. Beyoncé isn't even on there. Miley would be higher up. Gaga's pop culture power in 2014...  :laughga:

Look at the bottom...

Prometheus

It's fishy that she's at 100 out of 100 points - that seems statistically almost impossible, especially since 2014 wasn't as big of a year as 2009 or 2010 or 2011 for Gaga.

It says in tiny letters since she was top she was made the benchmark.

No, see the note at the bottom of the picture -- they're using her to define 100, on their scale. In other words, Bieber's overall metrics (however their formula works) are 75.5% of Gaga's.

But it just seems odd that she would be #1 and the benchmark - Katy Perry and Beyonce arguably have been much bigger in the past year than Gaga in all of the categories mentioned. Also, some artists like Rihanna and Madonna haven't come out with anything in the past year but they're still included.

How is it possible that she's #1 and therefore the benchmark when some of the other artists mentioned (like Katy Perry) beat Gaga in all of the metrics they used for this time period?

Is beyonce even pop though

There are artists on there such as Taylor Swift, Shakira, and OneDirection who are also not purely pop.

Let's be real,

She was featured in two movies, Released 3 singles from ARTPOP which is a #1 album, Applause received a lot of attention, the DWUW leak received a lot of attention, Dope got a lot of streaming points, she announced an album with Tony Bennett and released two singles from that album, she is on a worldwide tour, she has announced a perfume, she was featured in a worldwide campaign for Versace, she is featuring in a campaign for H&M, She had collaborations with Marina, Jeff Koons and a collaboration with Bob Wilson that made it to the Louvre. She also announced that she was going into space to perform among a range of other things.

That leads to a lot of clicks and a lot of searches. She also has a strong presence on social media and her performances rack up a lot more views than her contemporaries.

I know G.U.Y is considered a flop, and ARTPOP is considered an underperformance but she was ACTIVE this year to a very large degree. She is still a major artist, not some indie queen. It isn't that unbelievable.
