And I’m pretty sure many of you know her already. The magic handed lady behind our girl’s manicure is Kimmie Kyees. We met a few days ago. Virtually.

In the Bad Romance video Kimmie used two nail polishes.

The black one – the one so many of you went crazy about…

… is “Liquid Leather by China Glaze and the gold mesh is from Jo-Ann Fabric… we just attached it while the polish was still wet… Later she pulled all the gold off and wore just the black nails when the diamonds were in the air. Upclose the polish looked so cool – almost like alligator skin from where the mesh used to be attached to the polish! I made the nails and we weren’t sure we were gonna use them and I was super glad that we did…. I thought they were creative and unlike anything I had done before!”.

The other colour Kimmie used…

… was “Alpine Snow from OPI in Matte – looked great with all her intricate hand movements!”

There is still one part of the Bad Romance fashion puzzle to come. Don’t ask me. Won’t tell.

Can’t wait to see the next video and bring you as many pieces of the new and I’m beyond sure very exciting fashion puzzle as possible.

Mr. Magic Hands behind the chin protector is metal couturier Manuel Albarran.

I was so happy when he told that me the moment he read my summer “next headpieces for Lady Gaga” wish, his collaboration with our girl was already a work in progress.

When he talks about his work, it sounds as easy as taking a brass sheet, heating it up in order to soften it, hammering until achieving the desired form, polishing and riveting the parts together. Sounds easy but each and every creation of his clearly transmits there are tones of talent and hours and hours of patience and love behind each and every creation. The Bad Romance master piece took him 3 days to finish!

Make sure you visit his site, you won’t believe what this guys is able to create from a cold sheet of brass. Both for men…

… and women.

This is one of my favourite pieces created by Manuel Albarran and I believe I’m not the only one who thinks this awe would suit Gaga like a glove.

Mr. Magic Hands behind the make-up is Billy Brasfield…

… and the one behind the hair is Syd Curry. Both of them are one of the most successful and sought after artists in the Fashion and Entertainment industries. Visit their respective official sites and have a look at what these two talented men are capable of creating.

Bad Romance was not their first colaboration with our girl. Billy and Syd also created, among others, her make-up and hairdos for ACE Awards and MOCA 30th Anniversary Gala (huge thanks, Nic, for your help!).

There was another magic handed hair artist’s work featured in the video.

I’m talking about the “Walk walk fashion baby…” look.

The hairpiece Lady Gaga wears is “Lips” from Charlie le Mindu Spring 2010 collection (thanks a lot to Richie for the info!).

Yes, that very one wig a bunch of you wrote me about how much you would love Gaga wearing it.

Now you know she did. Her very own way.

Yes, it was a Rat Headpiece.

Actually a couple of them.

Both of them were designed and crafted for the Bad Romance video by Reid Peppard, Lady Magic Hands behind her RP/Encore brand – a bold accessories range for both women and men, based in London.

The two pieces Gaga wears in the video were custom made specialy for her. And before you ask, yes, I met Reid and she kindly shared some details with me for you.

Once the sketches of the headpieces were approved, it took her “a week to make the two taxidermied rats built onto combs. The works have Swarovski Crystal Eyes with 100 hand applied hyacinth and fireopal Swarovski Crystals on each tail”.

What a work! Can’t wait to share the pictures with you. I’ll do so the moment I get them.

“Inspired by the ethereal, haunting imagery found in the photographic work of Julia Margaret Cameron and Deborah Turbeville, the collection explores both the female form and the trapped space between body and dress: transparent silicone rubber forms garments that exaggerate the classic hourglass silhouette, while oversized dresses in chiffon, lace and sheer jersey cloak the body in a diaphanous film. The resulting layers of transparency expose the ‘negative space’ beneath the garments, which normally remains hidden”.

The white glamurous faux fur marvel…

… is from his Spring 2005 runway for which he joined forces with The Humane Society of the United States – the nation’s largest animal protection organization - and Glenoit Fabrics to present an innovative and daring collection, incorporating faux fur as an essential to the socially conscious wardrobe.

The Humane Society of The United States was “very excited to have this opportunity to work with Benjamin Cho and Glenoit Fabrics to spread the message that consumers can make a compassionate difference for animals by choosing faux fur”.

The Bat Hair Hat in the Bad Romance video…

… was created by Shinji Konishi, Japanese hair stylist and for me also one of the best hair “magicians” worldwide. What he creates more than wigs are real hair miracles, don’t you think so?

This is the only image I was able to find so far. Imagine this one in blonde.

All Shinji’s animal wigs are made of human hair. He first thinks about the face expression. Then he asks a plastic artist to carve a face with the exact shape, size and expression he has in mind. Then he dyes the hair and finishes the wig in 3 days. If he doesn’t sleep. He says it would take him a week if he slept.

We met yesterday night, virtually, and he kindly shared a bit of his amazing experience with me.

I’m sure many of you know him already. The stunning Diamond Crown and Ensemble were created by Franc Fernandez.

“It was a personal request by Nicola Formichetti, Lady Gaga’s stylist, to construct a sort of “diamond princess” piece that she would be wearing in the portion of the Bad Romance video where the men are “bidding” on her. The crown along with the rest of the ensemble are made of individual pieces of jewelry wired together. The crown was
finished the day before and the bust/top portion was literally constructed and molded on Lady Gaga, herself, on the day of the shoot. Lady Gaga has an amazing team around her so it was great to be a part of that experience“.

This piece was created by Vava Dudu, well-know for her unique way of customization of already existing clothes. What she wants is to deindustrialize fashion, make it the most personal she can. And she’s really good in taking a garment and giving it a new attitude. Bleaching, ripping, stitching, graffiti-ing, sometimes even destroying to construct all over again.

In this case she took a Burberry coat and…

… added it her very personal touch. Gave it a totally fresh air and completely different energy. And converted it to a fabulous non-conventional one of a kind fashion statement I love, love, looove!
