Lady Gaga is setting the record straight about those rumors that she was supposed to be a part of the re-recording of “We Are The World.”

According to reports by a host of Web sites, including Rolling Stone’s, Lady Gaga was one of the many artists who were reported to be a part of the historic re-recording to aid Haiti – reports that later proved to be premature.

And on Thursday, Lady Gaga explained to Billy Bush for Access Hollywood and “The Billy Bush Show,” why she wasn’t in the LA studio laying down a track earlier this week:

“I’ve actually been in rehearsal for my new tour, but I was never supposed to do ‘We Are The World.’ So that’s a rumor.”

The pop singer extraordinaire explained she was asked, but she’s actually been very involved in raising money for the earthquake-ravaged nation already.

“I believe that they may have asked, yes, about it, but I was unable to do it. And I’ve been working on my own charity projects for Haiti. We’ve raised over half a million dollars for Haiti already and we like to work specifically with charities that are based in Haiti itself.”

And Gaga has dug deep, not only donating her own take from one of her shows on her current “Monster Ball Tour,” but also hosting Haiti-benefiting sales on her Web site.

“I donated all of the proceeds from one show worth of ticket sales as well as all the of the merchandise from that show and for 24 hours we had a ‘Gaga for Haiti’ day where everything that was bought on the Web site… every dollar went to Hait. We’re continuing to work on more projects and we’re supposed to go to Haiti later this year for a show, which is very exciting.”

Stupid f*ing media and their rumors! I’m sorry, but “We are the World,” although it’s for a very good cause, has always been a rather corny song. I’m glad GaGa wasn’t involved, tbh.

Gaga does so much as it is socially for the world/people in need.

I was a young one when the original “We Are the World” came out and thought it was corny also. I didn’t buy it. I thought “Do They Know It’s Christmas” was a much better sounding all-star benefit song (because it had all of the cool English ‘new wave’ stars.)

It’s so sad that some in the media actually had the audacity to say that Gaga didn’t show when in fact she wasn’t even supposed to have been there. It’s like if she was supposed to have been there she would have been. What she has been doing is unselfish and awe inspiring. So sad that some must make-up nonsense in a pathetic effort to tear Gaga down. *sigh*

When i read in the New York Times that she was on the list to show-up,but chose to not particpate, and Justin Biebir was going to sing the first line in a solo,I was going to cut a bitch.

But I guess she was never even supposed to show-up.Still,to even mention her and to imply that she was on the list.Just picking on my mama…

Nahhh,I don’t want her to be part of it,the song seems really rushed. Its such a CLASSIC!!!, Mj N Quincy put so much work into it, now the recording seems way to rushed, n a song like that doesn’t need a remake, y couldn’t they have written another song.

When everyone was suddenly in a frenzy because Gaga wasn’t at the We Are the World recording, I knew something was fishy… it’s not like her to commit to something and then back out at the last second (that one concert where she fell ill notwithstanding, of course). I was personally dreading that if she did sign on, they’d stick her with Cyndi Lauper’s part. *shudder*

At any rate, it’s good she cleared this up. If the media didn’t really have a firm confirmation then shame on them; but if you ask me, it was all some conspiracy to give the haters something new to bash her about, given that those ridiculous hermaphrodite rumors are out the window after the Grammys. *ahem* Y’all know what I’m talking about. Everyone’s suddenly hating on Taylor Swift, too… sure her Grammy performance stunk, but still. It’s like everyone’s out to get the young female pop stars!

AWWW, TOO BAD SHE COULDN’T BE A PART OF IT!
IT’S GOING TO BE KINDA INCOMPLETE WITHOUT HER AND MJ!
ANYWAY, SHE’S HELPING ON HER OWN WAY AND THAT’S WHAT FULLY MATTERS TO HER AND HER LITTLE MONSTERS!
I LOVE YOU LADY GAGA! DOMINICAN LITTLE MONSTER!
PS: ALSO, I NOTICED THE SAME THING HAPPENED TO MADONNA WHEN THE ORIGINAL RECORDING WAS MADE: SHE WAS ALSO IN TOUR ISSUES. (I’M NOT COMPARING THEM, IT’S JUST THAT I’M SURPRISED BY THE COINCIDENCE). <3333

I felt this whole We Are the World is just making money shyt and to rise their fame, im honestly glad Gaga didnt join in, she doesnt need all that as she can make it in her own way and she got her own Haiti project that can literally give the money to the streets, doesnt need all these “process”, They got disappointed coz Gaga is their “money making tool” and also Grammys “robbed” her, so yeah, no suprise there LOL
